Shoot Events

Several shoot events happen at the rifle range. Listed below are the events and the staff that run them

Black Powder Shoot

Rifle Range

The Black Powder Shoot is a fun competition on the 25-50 range, generally the 2nd Sunday of every month. Line opens at 10 so best to be a bit early to set up.

We use traditional muzzle loading rifles, flint or cap lock and generally all shooting is off hand. Occasionally X-sticks or chunk matches may be held. Depending on everyone's endurance we usually run 4 to 6 matches. From beginners to well seasoned shooters it’s always a fun day on the line.

We load at the back bench and prime or cap at the line for safety reasons. Most targets are scored 5 shots on paper and will be shot during a 30 minuet relay. Depending on everyone's endurance we usually run 4 to 6 matches. From beginners to well seasoned shooters it’s always a fun day on the line.

Ladies Day Shoot

Rifle Range

Ladies Day is an opportunity for women to come out and safely experience a few different shooting disciplines. Except for male volunteer instructors, no men are permitted to take part in the days activities.

After a brief in class safety course the ladies head out to the range and get a chance to shoot. We usually split the ladies up into smaller groups and each group will take their turn shooting handguns, 22 rifle and muzzle loaders. Hopefully in the future we will be able to include shotgun. Midway through the day we provide a lunch then back to the line for more fun. Always a great day for everyone involved!
